Pterostilbene is a stilbenoid chemically related to resveratrol and is found in blueberries and grapes. It belongs to the group of phytoalexins, agents produced by plants to fight infections. Based on animal studies it is thought to exhibit anti-cancer, anti-hypercholesterolemia, anti-hypertriglyceridemia properties, as well as the ability to fight off and reverse cognitive decline. It is believed that the compound also has anti-diabetic properties, but so far very little has been studied on this issue. Pterostilbene is more stable than resveratrol and has a higher bioavailability.

Action: Studies indicate that pterostilbene has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer activity, lowers cholesterol and improves cognitive function.
1.Anti-cancer
Pterostilbene may help to prevent cancer. In-vitro studies demonstrate that pterostilbene induces apoptosis of cancer cells and improves the efficiency of the ant-cancer drug tamoxifen.
2.Improves heart health
Studies in test tube and animals show that pterostilbene may improve heart health by lowering cholesterol levels and reducing plaque formation.
3.Anti-inflammatory
Studies indicate the potential use of pterostilbene as an effective anti-inflammatory agent. The phytochemical inhibits the production of prostaglandin E2 from lipopolysaccharides-stimulated human blood cells.
